Math Tutoring
UWF funds tutorial systems and volunteer tutors at public elementary schools in Port Townsend and Chimacum. Volunteer tutors provide support for students by helping them play math “games” that are designed to develop specific math skills. Tutors help the students read instructions, stay focused, and learn the math skills being taught by the game. Volunteers include women and men from AAUW and the community-at-large. The program was initiated by AAUW in January 2011. By encouraging children to develop basic math skills, you will help them build a strong foundation needed for success in higher math. An orientation session for tutors and a resource book is provided. Contacts are listed below.
