[Career Days suspended in 2019.]  Since 1995, AAUW Port Townsend has sponsored and coordinated Career Days at Blue Heron and Chimacum Middle Schools.

In 2018 AAUW and the local schools undertook a review of the Career Day program in light of the advances in technology that are now available.  The decision was made to suspend Career Days and review alternative ways of  exposing students to the career opportunities of the future.

Speakers at previous career days addressed  fields such as: Ocean science, Veterinary science, fire/rescue services, utilities (PUD), park ranger, arts-videography, physical therapy, welding, health department/public health, shipbuilding, technology/ robotics.

See photos from previous Career days!  Workshops were held in: The Arts, Business/ Product Design, Business/Wood Boatbuilding, Marine Biology, Ocean Science, Public Safety, Public Utilities, Technology/Engineering, Veterinary Science.

Career Days provided an opportunity for 8th graders in East Jefferson County public schools to interact with professionals to learn about and become inspired about careers and their educational requirements.

These springtime events were conducted at Blue Heron Middle School and Chimacum Middle School. Traditionally, Quilcene and Brinnon students attended the event in Chimacum.
